Cat Clothing Care

Cat clothes should always be about comfort first. These tips will help your cat feel relaxed in their outfit and keep each piece looking lovely for longer.

Introducing clothes to your cat

  • Start small. Let your cat sniff the outfit first, then try it on for a minute or two.
  • Make it positive. Offer treats, gentle strokes or playtime while they wear it.
  • Build up slowly. Increase the time gradually over a few days.
  • Pick a calm moment. Avoid dressing your cat when they're anxious, hungry or wanting to play.

Comfort and safety

  • Always supervise your cat while they're dressed, and take clothes off before leaving them alone.
  • Check the fit: you should be able to slide two fingers under the neckline and chest. Use our size guide to find the right size.
  • Watch for signs of stress, such as flattened ears, freezing, hiding or trying to pull the outfit off. If you see them, remove the clothes and try again another day, or not at all.
  • Keep clothes away from your cat's face and make sure they can walk, sit, groom and use the litter box freely.
  • On hot days, skip warm layers. Sweaters and hoodies are best for cool weather or air-conditioned rooms.
  • Harnesses are for supervised outings only. Never leave a harnessed cat tied up unattended.

Washing and care

  • Check the care instructions on each product page before washing.
  • Most pieces do best hand washed in cold water, or machine washed on a gentle cycle inside a laundry bag.
  • Use a mild, fragrance-free detergent, as strong scents can bother sensitive cat noses.
  • Lay knits and fleece flat to dry. Avoid tumble drying, which can shrink fabrics.
  • Remove fur with a lint roller between washes, and check regularly for loose threads or worn trims.
